![]() Tuddenham Common
About 5 miles from The Fox at Lyng The Common is about 23 acres in size, and has been maintained for many years as a wild habitat. The Conservation Volunteers have managed the Common over the last 18 -19 years, together with North Tuddenham Parish Council, and Norfolk County Council. The ‘Common Management Committee’ has been formed recently and includes representatives from the local community, the Conservation Volunteers, the Parish Council and Norfolk County Council. The image here is of the control column from the wreckage of Liberator bomber B24J 42-99979, Kentucky Baby, which crashed on 21 April 1944, during assembly into formation. 8 crewmen died, 2 were injured, but returned to duty. This memorial was dedicated in May 2010. Elsewhere on the common is a less obvious memorial to the days more than 50 years ago when bicycle speedway took place on the common. |
